A Legal Disclaimer

All students at the school must behave in accordance with the codes of conduct established for the Montgomery County, MD Public Schools. These codes can be found at Student Code of Conduct in Montgomery County Public Schools

School Rules and Guidelines

All Russian School Erudite students are expected to follow school rules and behave appropriately during classes, breaks, and lunch. These guidelines help us maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for everyone.


1. Arrival at School
Students should arrive on time and be in their classroom 5 minutes before the beginning of class.
Students who arrive late should first check in with the school administration.


2. During Breaks and While on School Premises
For the safety of our students and to protect school property, students may not:

  • run in hallways or on stairs;

  • use elevators without permission;

  • enter rooms or areas that are not designated for Russian School Erudite activities;

  • engage in loud, disruptive, or unsafe games;

  • yell, use offensive language, or behave disrespectfully;

  • damage school property;

  • leave trash in classrooms, hallways, or other areas;

  • play in restrooms or remain in restroom stalls unnecessarily;

  • leave the school building on their own before, during, or after classes without a parent, teacher, or school administrator.

3. In the Classroom
Because Russian School Erudite uses classrooms and equipment belonging to another school, it is especially important that students respect the rooms, materials, and property provided for our use.
Students may not:

  • use personal belongings, teaching materials, or other items left in the classroom by students or staff of the host school without permission;

  • write or draw on, move, or remove items belonging to the host school;

  • erase anything written on classroom boards before our classes begin;

  • turn on or use computers or other classroom equipment without permission;

  • use the Promethean Board without a teacher’s permission;

  • eat in classrooms during lessons or breaks.

4. Lunch Break
During the extended break, students have lunch in the school cafeteria and must go to and from the cafeteria with a teacher or school administrator.
Hot meals may be purchased separately. The cost of meals is not included in tuition and is paid directly to the food service provider.


We ask parents to review these rules with their children. Respect for the school, consideration for others, and following these guidelines help make Erudite a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.

Guidelines for Parents

1. Parents in the School Building
Parents are generally asked not to remain in the school building during classes unless prior permission has been granted by the school administration.
Parents should not enter a classroom while a lesson is in progress without permission from the teacher or school administration.


2. Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up

At the beginning of the school day, parents must personally accompany their child to the classroom. At the end of the school day, parents must personally pick up their child from the school building or the designated pick-up area.

3. Permission for Another Person to Pick Up Your Child

If someone other than a parent will be picking up your child after school, you must notify the school administration in advance and provide written authorization.

The authorization must include the full name and telephone number of the person authorized to pick up your child. The school reserves the right to request identification at the time of pick-up.


4. Late Pick-Up
Please make every effort to pick up your child on time. If a parent or authorized adult is more than 15 minutes late, the school reserves the right to charge a $10 late pick-up fee.


5. Supervision After Classes
Once classes have ended, responsibility for the child returns to the parent or another adult authorized by the parent.
The school is not responsible for children left unattended in the school building or parking lot after classes have ended.


6. School Property
We ask all families to treat the school facilities, equipment, and property with care. If a student damages school property, the parent or guardian is responsible for the actual cost of repairing or replacing the damaged property.

General Policies and Academic Program

1. Electronic Devices
Students are asked not to bring electronic gaming devices or other electronic items that are not needed for school activities.
Russian School Erudite is not responsible for the loss of or damage to personal electronic devices brought to school.


2. Mobile Phones
Students may not use mobile phones during class. Phones should be silenced and put away during lessons.
If a student needs to contact a parent in an urgent or emergency situation, communication should be arranged through the teacher or school administration.


3. Academic Program
Russian School Erudite provides instruction according to its established academic program. When necessary, the school administration reserves the right to make adjustments to the curriculum or change instructional materials during the school year.
To ensure that each student is placed in a learning environment appropriate to their knowledge and needs, the school may recommend moving a student to a different class based on assessment results and teacher recommendations.


4. School Activities
Throughout the school year, Russian School Erudite organizes celebrations, concerts, field trips, and other activities for students and their families.
Our students also participate in competitions, festivals, academic contests, and other educational and cultural events throughout the Greater Washington area and beyond.


5. Compliance with School Rules
We expect students and parents to respect school policies and treat teachers, staff, students, and other members of our school community with courtesy and consideration.
In cases of serious or repeated violations of school rules, the administration reserves the right to take appropriate action. Depending on the circumstances, this may include a meeting with the student and parents, temporary suspension from classes without a tuition adjustment or refund, or, in exceptional cases, dismissal from the school.
