Larisa Sbornova

Larisa Leonidovna Sbornova graduated from Cherepovets State University, Department of Pedagogy and Methods of Elementary Education. She is a certified Montessori educator, having completed the training program at the Montessori Association of Russia in Moscow.
In 2005, she founded a preschool development center in Cherepovets, where she developed curricula based on the Montessori method, taught children, and trained other educators.
"The goals I set for myself as an educator were beautifully put by Maria Montessori, whom I deeply admire: 'Education should direct activity, not suppress it. The task of the teacher is rather to nourish and support, to observe, encourage, and inspire — not to intervene, dictate, or restrict.' In our lessons, the children and I talk a great deal, think things through together, and even debate. The children themselves suggest the topics for discussion. And that's my favorite part of teaching: guiding the conversation, helping children put their thoughts into words, draw conclusions, and watching wonder, doubt, and joy pass across their faces, one after another!"
