Irina Bogdanovna Drozd graduated with honors from an art school in Rivne, Ukraine, in 2003. In 2009, she graduated with honors from a national technical university with a degree in Architectural Design. She has worked in design and decorating, and more recently has taught various forms of visual art to children across different age groups.
"Drawing plays an enormous role in children's lives. What's especially important is how drawing interacts with a child's thinking. Working with painting and sculpting develops memory, the ability to focus, and fine motor skills; it teaches children to analyze different things, compare proportions, spot differences, and think creatively. The diversity of objects and shapes in the world around us — the different sizes, colors, shades, and spatial dimensions — all enrich a child's knowledge. In my own practice, I also use unconventional drawing techniques: painting on glass, fabric painting, chalk drawing on velvet paper, and painting on stones, mugs, and other objects. These techniques help children feel free and uninhibited, letting them see and capture on paper things that are hard to express through ordinary methods and materials."
