Alina Sergeyevna Melkumyan has many years of experience working with preschool-age children. She currently works as an educator at the Potomac Russian Academy in Maryland. She also leads various creative activities for school-age children at a children's summer camp.
"I love working with children because being around them is fun. Children, especially young ones, are wonderfully sincere: they tell me their latest news, talk about their pets, show off their new toys, and share whatever's worrying them — and in doing so, they let me, their teacher, into their lives. When a teacher creates a magical world for a child in the classroom, the teacher becomes a little bit of a child too. I think that's a beautiful thing — as adults, it gives us a chance to stretch out childhood, if only for a little while!"
