A dark summer evening, a vast field lined with garden beds, and not a soul around… Scary! Who among us hasn’t worried about Kotka, the young hero of Nikolai Nosov’s story “Cucumbers” — a true children’s thriller! Of course, the story has a happy ending (but we’ll avoid spoilers, just in case you haven’t read it yet).

An open class in Grade 3B, taught by Olga Kalinina, was dedicated to the stories of Nikolai Nosov — funny, engaging, and at the same time full of valuable lessons.

The students demonstrated an excellent knowledge of every detail and nuance of the stories! For example, they remembered how many cucumbers Kotka ate and how many times Bobka had to resew his patch. They also identified quotations, recognized stories from illustrations, deciphered story titles, and searched for missing objects in the “Lost and Found.”

No “living hats” were spotted during the lesson, but the discussion about everyone’s favorite stories was certainly very lively!
